Love is now available from Alltel... a wireless phone company.
And if you contact Wachovia, you'll begin to love your largest monthly payment as much your home.
These messages are unbelievable... really... in the dictionary sense of the word. They made me laugh rather than want to engage with the company.
If the marketing dollars were invested on further pleasing their current customers, would the word-of-mouth created have a better impact on sales (customer retention and new customer acquisition)?
I've got a theme going lately (love, love, love) and there's more to come.
In the meantime, if you need more love now, Alltel is standing by.

Sam:
I like 'em. Of course, I don't need love from alltel, Wachovia, or, for that matter, anybody else (okay, maybe WaMu). And, if I do, well, that's why God created American Express, as far as I can tell.
But funny is good, and good works for me. The alltel bits are cute. They reinforce their other media. They link to what was, in fact, not all that great of a song, and remake it.
Maybe you and alltel had, you know, a thing. Maybe it ended badly. Sorry about that. I'm here for ya buddy. Wanna cry a little, that's okay too.
But, for me, alltel is funny. I wouldn't use them for my cell services. But I'm not suggesting you trust my judgment on anything anyway. . .after all, I believe that true love is spelled "amex."
Warm Regards,
James.
