Shit.

It's really just poop, isn't it?

And I'm okay with the word “poop”. It's actually kind of funny to me... not really vulgar.

“Shit” though, sounds vulgar for some reason.

But it's just poop.

So would it be so wrong if my kids said, "Poop!"?

I don't think so. Until they said it as much as I say, "Shit!" Then I might have a problem with it (but I'm not even sure then).

Do I suggest the word "shit" for use in business? Of course not. Do I hear it in business? Of course. Hypocrisy at it's best (well, maybe not it's best).

Can you imagine?

"Sally, I don't need this poop right now."

"That's poop work, Bob."

"Look at this poop."

"Larry... don't give me that poop. You told me you'd have it done."

It's a funny word... “poop”.

It might make a nice substitute for shit (and lighten the moment).
